Scansano

Scansano is a town of medieval origin, in the Tuscan province of Grosseto. The well preserved wall and the old roads near the old castle continuously remind the history of this small town, involved for many years in wars with Siena. The area which Scansano lies within is called Maremma and is notable for Morellino di Scansano, a type of red wine. The vicinity of the Tuscan hills to the sea and the special composition of the land in this area allows the growth of vineyards with a characteristic aroma and taste. The Morellino is the best example!

Saturnia is a spa town in Tuscany in north-central Italy that has been inhabited since ancient times. Near this town, 800 L/s of sulphurous water at 37 °C gushes over a waterfall and down into a cascade of natural pools formed by the deposition of calcareous rock from evaporation of the water. The Roman gladiators injured during their fights were used to be sent to Saturnia in order to heal their wounds more rapidly; the term SPA, still used today, was invented by the Romans , meaning Salus Per Aqua (Health From Water).
